SURPRISINGLY UNTENDENTIOUS

I've started reading Al Jazeera's English site. Not because I love them for broadcasting Osama Bin Laden; I don't think they should. But they do tend to listen more to Iraqis on the ground more than to official US and Iraqi government statements, which I don't believe. I do not believe the operation in Falluja has been successful. I am not impressed that US soldiers have retaken police stations after guerrillas attacked, overran and ransacked them. And I want to hear what the Arab in the street thinks of the murder of Margaret Hassan.

Al Jezeera doesn't represent the typical Iraqi on the street. It represents the hardline of Muslim Fundamentalism. You certainly won't be getting any fair or unbiased news from them.

See now, read the site before you say that. It certainly does NOT represent the hardline of Muslim Fundamentalism. It is funded by the mild-mannered ruler of Qatar, and it is probably the closest the Arab world has to objective news. Sure, they publish too many photos of dead American soldiers, to the point where they seem to be glorying in it, but they also publish interviews with Iraqis who are appalled by the murder of Margaret Hassan. Just because they don't buy the offical White House line doesn't make them fanatical extremists.

For a blog on screenwriting, you are fast and loose with political commentary. You seem predisposed to think the very worst about the US while giving the maximum benefit of doubt to the mouthpiece of muslim extremism. Perhaps you are living in the wrong country?

Oops! My bad... your bio says you live in Canada. That explains a lot.

Remarkable -- supposedly America stands for freedom of speech, etc., but some people get all bent out of shape when you actually exercise it.

If you don't like people mouthing off, maybe *you* should move to a country where criticizing the government is not allowed. Like, say, Iran.

I wish I knew how to create an account here. I posted the first response, but not the others. Oh well.

Anyway, I have read Al Jazeera, and let me tell you, they are a propaganda machine for Fundamentalist Islam. It's cool if you want to get a different perspective, but just know that this perspective is the one that's being used by anti-American governments to get people to turn against the US and what we're doing in Iraq. So take it with a grain of salt (a big grain). The US is doing a lot of good in Iraq and the powers that be over there are scared shitless because of it.

Also, pay attention to how Al Jazeera covers Israel and Jews. It's all very anti-semetic. How credible can that be?
